Scout’s Own Products Make the Best Holiday Gifts

There are always those one or two people that it seems impossible to figure out what to get for the holidays. I’ve got the perfect and unique gift suggestion for those people. They will LOVE it as long as they fall into one (or all) of the following categories!

  1. They love the outdoors.
  2. They love to cook.
  3. They love Scouting!

These three items are fantastic for gifting – they help fund-raise for Scouting adventures and are delicious “small batch”- type gifts. You can choose between the eight fl. oz. bottle of pure maple syrup and a 16 oz. Package of pancake mix or a 16 oz. Package of cornbread/muffin mix (or grab them all for the cutest little gift basket!). The pure maple syrup also comes with a pretty neat story – it’s pulled from trees in the Beaumont Scout Reservation in Northern Ohio. Over 7,000 maple trees produce 150,000 gallons of maple sap each season. Scouts learn about the syrup process, honing their entrepreneurial skills to sell the product to fund their Scouting adventures.

And if you want to make this gift more fun and personalized, hand-write or print the following recipes on how they can use their new set!

Recipes for

  • Pancakes (duh): No need to go into detail here because obviously. The best part about this pancake mix is that it is a simple just-add-water recipe, making it the perfect companion for mornings at the campsite! Top them with the Scout’s pure maple syrup and have the yummiest breakfast.
  • Breakfast Bake: I found this delicious-looking pancake mix recipe, and it looks PHENOMENAL.
  • Cheddar Corn Bread Muffins: This is a straightforward alternative to making homemade corndogs using the corn bread/muffin mix! Plus, they are easy to grab and go, creating the perfect hiking snack or breakfast on the run.
  • Corn Bread Casserole: Check out this Scout Chef Kitchen recipe that perfectly uses the corn bread/muffin mix! It is an easy way to make a one-dish meal with your mix.
  • Pumpkin smoothie: My 4.5-year-old and I are big fans of this one. The key is to freeze the pumpkin puree into cubes in advance… trust me. I tried to skip that step, which made a glorified baby food-like concoction. Ha. Blend ½ teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice, ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract, ½ of a ripe banana, ¾ cup of frozen pumpkin puree (again, freeze in cubes… your blender will not be happy with one solid ¾-cup chunk), 1 mug of frozen riced cauliflower (seriously the easiest way to add veggies… it is an excellent addition to any smoothies!), about 1 cup of almond milk (basically add until your blender gets going and the texture is how you like it… add less to have a smoothie bowl to eat with a spoon, add more to make it drinkable), and finally, two tablespoons of the pure maple syrup.
  • Ice cream: I have the PERFECT recipe for this on this blog I wrote. It is a MUST try and an excellent way to use that pure maple syrup.
  • In Coffee: I have a couple of suggestions here. The first is quick and easy. Substitute in pure maple syrup for sugar – it dissolves way easier (and if you use a sweetened creamer, this is less chemicals, and you can switch to plain half & half!). You could also make your almond milk coffee creamer. It is delicious and WAY better than anything you have bought in the store.

Gavin, we TOTALLY agree! Is there anything better than mini pancakes and pure maple syrup?! (We think not)
