4 Scout Activities to Do at Home During Coronavirus

The coronavirus has definitely disrupted business as usual for the world. No matter what age, we are all feeling the effects of the pandemic. With that being said, let’s talk about fun activities that you can do from home – things that you can do while staying safe and keeping others safe by keeping your distance!

  1. Check out this blog for 5 easy family activities – It has directions on how to make a homemade flower pot, how to make homemade ice cream, even directs you to everything you need to make hand-stamped leather bracelets!
  2. Mail letters to people – When was the last time you wrote a purposeful letter to someone? EVERYONE loves some good snail mail, and now there is no excuse about not having enough time
  3. Smithsonian Solar Powered Eco-Science Three-Project Kit – Try out a new science kit! This one has three projects in one, where you can make a helicopter, a fan, AND a windmill. It is perfect for ages 8 and up.
  4. Do an at-home workout – There are SO MANY free workout options from home right now, take advantage of them! Peloton has offered 90 days of free membership (they have all kinds of workouts that are mat-based, so no need for a stationary bike or treadmill) and I know PLENTY of yoga studios are offering both live classes and recorded classes. Where normally kids may not be able to do these workouts in the studios, they can definitely participate at home.

Here’s the deal. Yes, things are crazy right now, but as Scouts we are leaders in our communities. We can show others that connection, fun, and safety are all here for us – it is up to us to lead the way.

Show us how you are keeping the Scouting spirit alive by sharing your photos on social media using #ScoutingAtHome and #ScoutingFamily hashtags!
