8 Ways to Enjoy #BSAsunday
Have you ever been about midway through the afternoon on a Sunday and had the feeling that Monday is WAY too close for comfort? Oh… no?.... Yeah… me neither. Cool.
Just kidding. I have definitely been there, and I got to brainstorming about some ways to avoid the #SundayScaries! The key elements that I knew needed to be included were outdoors, service to others, and connection to friends and family.
Set an alarm for yourself and put these in your calendar or paper planner (whatever floats your boat!). If you like to plan ahead, then give yourself some time on Friday or Saturday to come up with your game plan, but each of these is designed so you can just jump right in on your Sunday with minimal fuss.
- Find a new trail to hike and add 0.5 miles to your "usual" distance
- Get together with a Scout buddy or family for a friendly board game afternoon
- Visit your local library and pick out a book to read out loud, as a family
- Find a new dinner recipe to make from scratch (check out this yummy stir fry recipe!)
- Take a walk around your neighborhood with an adult and pick up any trash you see for an impromptu neighborhood cleanup
- Find your closest rock-climbing gym and grab your Scout buddies to try it out
- See if any of the assisted living homes near you have free time where you could take your favorite board game in to play with the residents, or do something to help someone else, whether it’s a parent or a friend #DoAGoodTurn
- Grab your fishing pole and head to a new spot! Wondering how to get started? Check out this blog
And a bonus round? Make a plan for how you are going to earn your next 3 Merit Badges. The key here would be to write the steps down on paper, along with exact dates for each step (crucial elements to achieving any goal). Now is the perfect time to finish out some merit badges before summer, and/or plan out the badges you are going to earn over the summer!
