If you want to expand your outdoor cooking menu to include more than the classic “hot dog on a stick”, then take a look at these simple but delicious ideas that everyone will love.

A Few Recipes To Start With

Dutch Over Pizza

Comfort food is delicious indoors and outdoors! This campfire pizza can be prepared inside of your Dutch oven! Maybe even faster than delivery, this recipe only takes about 35 minutes.

Ingredients:

  • Vegetable oil
  • Premade pizza dough
  • Small can or jar of tomato sauce
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt, pepper, oregano (any seasonings you like)
  • Pepperoni slices (toppings of your choice)


Directions:

  • Heat coals for your Dutch oven using a campfire or the CampMaid Charcoal Chimney.
  • Spread half the can of pizza dough across the bottom and lower sides of the Dutch oven to form your crust. Whether you use less of your dough will depend on your personal preference.
  • Evenly spread the tomato sauce on the bottom of the pizza dough.
  • Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and any seasonings of your choice to taste.
  • Add your toppings like sliced pepperoni.
  • Place the pizza on hot coals.
  • Cover the lid (the CampMaid® Kickstand Lid Lifter can come in handy!)
  • Cook the pizza according to the instructions on the dough or for about 10 minutes (or until the dough looks cooked).
  • Open the lid to sprinkle cheese.
  • Over with the lid to melt the cheese for about 5 mins - You’re ready to dig in!

Campfire Pigs in a Blanket Recipe

Make this quick and delicious camp meal with a pack of hotdogs, wooden skewers, and croissant rolls!


Ingredients:

  • 1 pack of hotdogs
  • 1 can of croissant rolls
  • Wooden skewers


Directions:

  • Pull apart the rolls and then wrap them around the hotdogs to form ‘pigs in a blanket’.
  • Once the hotdogs are wrapped in dough, poke a skewer through them.
  • Loosely wrap hotdogs in aluminum foil.
  • Cook the hot dogs for about 15 to 20 minutes over the fire.
  • Now they’re ready to be devoured! Serve with your favorite sauce and enjoy!

Monkey Bread Recipe

This sweet, warm, and soft campfire dessert will be the perfect treat for a night under the stars. You can prepare this tasty treat in a Dutch oven.


Ingredients:

  • 1 can of buttermilk biscuit dough
  • ½ cup of cinnamon sugar
  • ½ cup of brown sugar
  • 1 stick of salted butter.

Directions:

  • Line your camping dutch oven with aluminum foil and grease it with butter to avoid sticking.
  • Once the foil is greased, cut up the dough into small chunks and put into a plastic baggy along with the cinnamon sugar.
  • Shake the bag to thoroughly coat the dough, and then add the pieces to your oven. Melt the stick of butter over your campfire and stir in the brown sugar.
  • Once melted, pour mixture over the dough and cover with another layer of foil.
  • Finally, place the lid on your dutch oven (the CampMaid® Kickstand Lid Lifter can come in handy!).
  • Bake for about 5 to 10 minutes and they’re ready to serve! (You’ll know they’re ready when the center is puffed up and cooked through)

Popcorn

Everyone loves the sound of the outdoors. Add the melody of this fresh popping snack for the perfect night around the campfire! You’ll need a pie tin and aluminum foil!


Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup of vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup of popcorn kernels
  • Salt
  • Butter


Directions:

  • Pour the vegetable oil over the popcorn kernels and toss together in a pie tin.
  • Tightly cover the pie tin with aluminum foil (leave room for expanding popcorn).
  • While heating and popping, use tongs to gently shake the tin until popping stops.
  • Add salt and butter to taste.
