Healthy Benefits
If you love spending time outdoors, then you’ll be happy to know that your health can improve from getting outside! Memories created on family camping trips stay with children well into adulthood. Here are some tips that families with young children should know to make the best out of their outdoor excursion.
Depending on the children’s ages, involve them in just about everything!
- Their minds are like sponges, and they’ll love learning a whole new skillset.
- Have them help or watch closely when packing, pitching the tent, building the campfire, and making camp meals.
Plan games and fun activities to keep them entertained!
- Keep children engaged and include enough outdoor toys (like disc golf and others that are easy to pack) and flashlights.
- Some campsites offer canoeing, rock climbing, zip-lining, and more activities!
- Connect with one another and have story time around the campfire. Give the children the tasks of coming up with a skit or providing entertainment after dinner.
Get gear made for children!
- Taking care of their own gear could give them a sense of pride and independence.
- By teaching them how to take care of their own hydration pack, sleeping bag, and backpack, you’re preparing them for a future in the outdoors.
