The Scouts BSA Uniform for Scoutmasters and Troop Leaders

Wearing your Scouts BSA uniform symbolizes your commitment to one of the oldest youth organizations in the world and the values it represents. It is also a practical and functional outfit designed to be comfortable and durable for outdoor activities like camping and hiking.

Here is a breakdown of the Scouts BSA uniform:

  • Shirt - The top is a tan, long or short-sleeved shirt made of polyester-cotton blend fabric for comfort and durability wherever your journey takes you. It features two front pockets with button flaps, epaulets, and the Scouts BSA emblem on the left pocket. The shirt also has a vented back yoke that allows for breathability and freedom of movement.
  • Pants - The bottoms are olive green and made of a durable polyester-cotton blend fabric. They feature cargo pockets on the sides, reinforced knees, and an adjustable waistband for a comfortable fit. The pants are designed to be worn with a web belt. Scout Shop sells traditional uniform pants or you can grab a pair of switchback pants that allow you to convert your pants into shorts!
  • Belt - The Scouts BSA web belt is olive green and features a metal buckle with the Scouts BSA emblem.
  • Socks - The socks you will need to complete your uniform are olive green and feature the Scouts BSA emblem. These socks are not only meant to complement the traditional Scouting look but are also designed to be comfortable on camping trips and hikes.
  • Hat - (Optional) may wear any official Scouting America adult hat. We recommend a hat to help shield your skin from sun exposure when participating in outdoor activities like hiking or fishing.
  • Neckerchief - (Optional) may wear any official Scouting America neckerchief except for youth neckerchiefs.
  • Neckerchief Slide - (Optional) may use an official Scouting America slide or may wear handmade neckerchief slides.
