The Secret to a FUN Fourth of July

You want to know the real secret to having the happiest Fourth of July (or any holiday)? It is gratitude and the great people you gather with. Luckily, we have a heap of both in the BSA!

So, let freedom ring!

We are so fortunate to live in a country where we are born free. We wanted to know how YOU celebrate the freedom that so many have worked so hard to give us! Check out some favorite memories of years past, and how your fellow Scouts plan on spending their holiday!

Through the rose-tinted lenses of nostalgia…

“My favorite 4th of July memory was that my son James was born in 2000 on that day. That ushered a life of Scouting that continues to this day. He (now one of my assistant Scoutmasters) and I will be with our Troop (125 Redding, California) in Philmont for his birthday this year!” – James

“Sparklers. Old school, hand-held sparklers.” - Michele

What is planned this year…

“Moreno Valley Pack 100 will be participating in our city’s parade.” – Nicole

“First day of Webelos Residence Camp.” – Eric

“Marching in the Bristol 4th of July parade, the oldest Fourth of July celebration in the country!” – Kathy

“Campfires, hotdogs, swimming!” – Heather

“My son will get up early to go put out flags in a subdivision as a Troop event.” – Bridgette

“Going to Block Island for a Troop bike ride and lots of fun!” – Owen

“Running a salami toss fundraiser and marching in our town’s parade!” – Troop 222

“Pack 177 from Fort Benning, GA will be leading the Mini Patriots parade at the National Infantry Museum!” – Lani

Details down to the delicious food…

“Red, white and blue fruit salad.” – Heather

“Steamed Maryland crab!” – Angela

“Grilled Oysters.” – Cory

“Pig roast with potluck-style sides.” – Taylor

“Deviled eggs with bacon bits! Because what would a cookout be without them?” – Millie

So, recap.

Grab your pack or troop, add some outdoor adventure and grilled food, take a few moments to give thanks, and throw in a few glow sticks – BOOM! Instant perfect celebration. We want to wish all of you a HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY! We hope you have a happy and safe holiday and can’t wait to see your pictures – be sure to tag us using #ScoutShopBSA for a chance to be featured on our social channels!
