Pinewood Derby Champ Camp at Scout Shop

Champ Camp is back for 2023, so it’s time to jump-start all the Pinewood Derby fun with your Scouts. From expert hacks on maximizing speed and breakdowns of basic Pinewood Derby car shapes to exclusive workshops featuring tips and tricks to help you build a cool-looking race car, Scout Shop is pulling all the stops to help you take your race to the next level! 

Champ Camp is Scout Shop's collection of in-person and virtual workshops intended to help Scouts build their Pinewood Derby cars. Participating National Scout Shops bring in local experts to help answer questions and share their favorite PWD hacks, tips, and tricks. Although it varies from shop to shop, Scout Shops will often have tester tracks to test your cars and scales for you to weigh them. If your vehicle is underweight, they (obviously) have all kinds of weights that you can purchase and add right on-site! Some Scout Shops bring tools to help you cut and shape your car, along with hole-drilling tools so you can prep your car for different kits. Whether you're new to Scouting or are looking for tips to win a Pinewood Derby race finally, Champ Camp is an excellent resource for all things Pinewood Derby. 

Champ Camp workshops are available in person at your local Scout Shop. If you're unsure where to find your local Scout Shop, ask your leaders, or you can use this handy store locator to find a shop near you. If you already know which one is closest to you, check out their 2023 Champ Camp dates and get ready to build a winning race car!

For the first time, Scout Shops can choose to host these information-rich workshops as many times as they want between January and February! That means your Scout Shop could decide to have one big hoorah of a Champ Camp on one Saturday, OR they can choose to hold as many as 8 Champ Camps.
