Gnorm's Origin Story
Every legend has an origin story. In the official 2026 National Jamboree “Elevate” logo, there is a compass point positioned above the “V.” During a national meeting two years ago, someone noticed something unexpected in that compass needle design.
“It looks like a gnome!”
Once the idea was spoken, it took on a life of its own.
From that single observation, Gnorm the Gnome was born. Designed from the compass point itself, Gnorm quite literally represents direction, leadership, and the spirit of exploration — core values of Scouting America and the National Jamboree.
The compass has always symbolized guidance and purpose. Turning that compass needle into a character gave the event something powerful:
