Family Fun Fest – What the heck is it and how to WIN!
Oh, hi! Yes, it is still 2020 and we are all sitting on the edges of our seats, waiting to see what is going to happen next.
JUST KIDDING, because we decided to put together the most fun event ever that you and your family can attend from your homes, or anywhere!
Introducing Family Fun Fest – where you get to build your own adventure and join kids across the nation in building a Pinewood Derby car, putting together your own model rocket, learning how to draw something new, listening to some really cool guest speakers that we have lined up, and WINNING some pretty darned incredible prizes.
So, let’s talk about the details.
Where: It’s virtual! You can participate from anywhere with internet access.
When: August 8th from 11am EST – 2pm EST and September 12th (time TBA)
How: Head on over to the Facebook page to RSVP and sign up for the reminder on our landing page (where you can also check out the countdown!)
What: Not to give away any secrets, but here are just a few things that will be coming your way throughout the event…
- Vote on how you want to build out a Pinewood Derby car, and we’ll make it happen LIVE on the show
- Learn some tricks to make your Pinewood Derby car super-fast
- Meet a NASCAR driver (yup, we will be talking with one of our favorite drivers, Joey Logano!)
- Enter to win – we will be giving away an actual metric ton of giveaways. Just kidding. BUT, we WILL be giving prizes away every 30 minutes to live viewers
- Chat with a NASA astronaut Dr. Bernard Harris, the first African American astronaut to complete a space walk
- Learn how to make a water rocket
- Check out some awesome pets
- Draw alongside professionals and vote on what art you want to create

Here’s the deal. You have so many ways to snag yourself a freebie, that it bears detailing out.
1. RSVP to the Live event on Facebook and sign up for updates on the landing page to double your chances to win (your RSVP on Facebook is an entry and your sign up on the landing page is another entry!). Sixty-seven (yup, 67!) lucky people will be chosen to win! Here’s what we’ve got up for grabs:

2. Fill out an Adventure Log! Once you complete as many line items as you can, snap a picture and post on social with the hashtag #famfunfest to be entered to win. We will randomly pick 6 winners to win a $200 gift card to Scout Shops (3 for the event on 8/8 and 3 for the event on 9/12)! For a higher chance of winning, post the pictures of you accomplishing the various adventures (don’t forget the hashtag #famfunfest)!
3. Tune in and participate in the Live event. As mentioned above, there will be a giveaway every 30 minutes to some lucky viewer! What are we giving away, you ask?

Want to get more involved on the live action?
Are you ready to dig in a little deeper and get more hands-on while you participate at home?! Well, here are a few things to have ready on standby! Totally not mandatory, but 100% will level up the virtual adventure.
- Some paper and something to draw with (pencils, pens, markers, etc)
- A Pinewood Derby kit to make your own car (and don’t forget those accessories!)
- The Scout rocket kit (first time diving into the world of model rockets? Check out this blog with some additional details)
- A 2-liter water bottle, construction paper, scissors, stickers and access to running water
